Artist Statement    I work with soft pastels both in the studio and “en plein air”. Dusk Loire is a studio painting done from photos taken at days end on a trip through the Loire Valley in France. I’m always inspired by the natural landscape in varying light and conditions. It is often a poetic quality in a subject or as in this case, the sheer drama of light that drives my painting.
