Artist Statement    All of my work, whatever the subject indulges my fascination between light and dark. I love the mystery and the intrigue of shadow and the drama of form. I lightly sketch a size and placement drawing on my canvas to work out compositional issues. I then paint directly (“alla prima”) I try to use rich color, translucent shadows and the brilliant building of lights to convey my thoughts.
