Artist Statement     Although I have been s studio artist for many years I now divide my time between the studio and painting on location “en plein air”.   Creek Trail Bridge is a plein air painting, done not far from my home in a beautiful area that I grew up going to, and return to often to paint.   My medium of choice is soft pastel. Pastels are a true passion of mine. I love the tactile nature of pastel in hand, stick to surface...nothing in between.  I travel frequently and look for the ancient qualities of an area, dotting the landscape, things that are real and have stood the test of time....old bridges, barns, stone buildings, turrets and clocktowers, hilltowns and backroads.   I’m always inspired by the natural landscape in varying light and conditions.  It can be a poetic quality in a subject or the sheer drama of light that drives my painting.
