Artist Statement     One of the best things in participating in the International Plein Air Painters annual Niagara Falls paintout is the chance to go down by the rocks near the Maid of the Mist landing. Behind a ridge and out of sight of the lines waiting to board the boat, my toes about an inch from the water, it was just me and the falls! The day was warm, and occasionally a fine spray of mist would land on me from the American Falls all the way across the gorge. It was "plein air perfection". This picture, a souvenir of a very happy afternoon, won the Artists' Choice award at the competition.
