Artist Statement     Daily painting for me is a form of moving meditation, a task which demands complete concentration and commitment to be done well. When I paint with watercolour, I try to convey mood and use the interaction of positive and negative shapes to create a visual journey.  When I use casein and/or acrylic, I allow colour to capture my mood and the viewer’s interest.  I play less with values and let colour express depth and atmosphere in the painting. My annual journeys to Quebec, northern Ontario, or Italy inspire my landscapes. Inspiration also comes from the excellent friendships that I have developed with other professional artists.  Seeing the quality and excellence of the works produced by these artists keeps me humble - but also inspires me to work harder.
