Artist Statement     My favorite subjects are people in their environment, capturing a bit of the personality of the subject as well as my own.  I want the viewer to be touched in some way by the emotion of the scene. I use large abstract shapes to create the design, before adding any details. By exploiting the fluidity and unpredictable nature of watercolor, I like to create detail in the center of interest and then fade to abstract in the surrounding composition. Watching colors run and spread on a hot pressed surface brings my emotions into the creative process.
