Artist Statement     With my back pack and walking stick, I took the trail up to Alberta Falls, in the Rocky Mountain National Park. My pastel painting is the result of two oil plein aire studies and some additional digital reference material. This I feel, is an excellent way to experience the joy of painting on location and capturing my observations for the later studio piece. I use this approach often. With both camera and field study, I can more effectively revisit my experiences on location and offer my paintings the freshness of actually being there.
