Artist Statement     Cargo containers: massive, cumbersome gateways through which material goods in their anonymous phase leave or enter our lives; portals through space and time for Things. I see in these portals what was there before the cargo and the promises. I see what cargo cannot replace, and I see the potential for change. I paint to convey the beauty and desolation of these pervasive locations where countries and cultures wear an identical weathered face.
